In my journey through life, I have experienced some big bumps along the road and Julie's ability to place herself in the hands of her "good God who is so very good" with utter confidence, deep faith, and boundless love in very troublesome times truly inspired and sustained me. She was a "woman who truly knew how to believe and how to love". All her thoughts, words, and actions were imbued with the love of Jesus. She completely understood and lived the following poetic dictum:
Love isn't put in our hearts to stay
For love isn't love 'til we give it away.
And give it away she did to all whom she met along the way, in large measure to her Sisters who would pass it on to future generations of SND's and Associates. Today, united in Notre Dame and in the Body of Christ, each of us is called and graced to emulate the charism of Julie loving all people, in all circumstances, for all times.
Thank you, Jesus, for placing your love in Julie's heart and ours, so we, in turn, even in the most tumultuous times, as women who "know how to believe and how to love,” can give it away!
Ask, hope, expect everything from
God’s infinite goodness.
