Empowering Leaders for a Goodness-Centered World: Notre Dame Mission Volunteers Gather for Mission Training and Reflection

For over 30 years, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in the United States have sponsored Notre Dame Mission Volunteers (NDMV), expanding their mission to include volunteers who believe education is vital to creating a goodness-centered world. NDMV’s mission statement reads: “Notre Dame Mission Volunteers develops leaders through education and compassionate service that sparks confidence to learn and agency to transform disenfranchised communities.”

Recently, 27 staff members from across the country gathered for an in-person training session at Julie Hall, Mount Notre Dame. The training included visits to the Heritage Hallway, Museum, and the Sister Dorothy Stang room, offering an opportunity to connect with the congregation’s rich history. Executive Director Ted Miles led a reflection on mission, while Sister Kristin Matthes, SNDdeN, facilitated team-building activities using the Clifton Strengths tool.

Sister Judi Clemens, SNDdeN, a former Board member of NDMV, expressed pride in witnessing the national team’s dedication to the Notre Dame de Namur Hallmarks. “They don’t just embrace the Hallmarks; they live them,” she shared. Sister Judi noted the vibrancy and commitment of the team as they work together to further the mission.

NDMV continues to hold a strong partnership with AmeriCorps, furthering their mission of service and education to transform communities across the country.
