NDMV 2025 Mid-Year Conference Recap: Unity through Community

NDMV 2025 Mid-Year Conference Recap: Unity through Community

As AmeriCorps Week (March 9-15) unfolds, we reflect on the inspiring Mid-Year Conference in Baltimore (January 22-25), where Notre Dame Mission Volunteers celebrated "Unity through Community" and their strengthened Notre Dame de Namur Learning Community.

This year featured meaningful firsts. NDMVA introduced four service projects during the conference:

  • Collaborating with Rise Against Hunger to package 17,280 meals for children experiencing malnutrition
  • Crafting toys for neurodivergent children to distribute in Boston
  • Participating in environmental advocacy through a letter-writing campaign modeled from the SNDdeN Ohio
  • Creating valentine cards for Sisters.

NDMV honored Sister Ann Kendrik, SNDdeN, with the inaugural Seeds of Hope Award and engaged in enriching discussions on the Hallmarks led by Sister Kristin Matthes, SNDdeN.

The conference included a special screening about Sister Dorothy Stang's life of service, inspiring keynotes from community leaders, and storytelling sessions that connected diverse experiences. Sisters from across the country shared wisdom and strengthened bonds with members.

Legacy and Partnership

Founded in 1992 by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, NDMV continues Saint Julie Billiart's mission of seeing goodness in all and serving alongside people experiencing poverty through education and presence.

Since receiving its first AmeriCorps grant in 1995, NDMV has placed over 8,000 volunteers in communities that have been marginalized nationwide. This partnership empowers both communities and those who serve, providing educational awards that open doors to volunteers' futures while addressing critical needs.
