Prayer

The past Sunday, three members of the Province Staff attended the Festival of Faiths at Xavier University’s Cintas Center. Tomorrow, the festival will conclude with a Peace Walk in Ault Park from 6 to 8 PM. Please pray with the walkers tomorrow. Below is a poem written by Isabella Daley, after her first Festival of Faiths experience in 2018
This is Normal

Out there, there is hatred
Out there, there is fear.
There’s mistrust – not understanding.
But there’s peace and love in here.
Out there, people forget
that we should all live as one.
We’re meant to be one family
sharing one earth, one moon, one sun.
In here, this is normal
no hate, no fear abounds
Instead of cries of anger
we hear happy, joyful sounds.
In here, we hear “Hello!”
And greetings of “Shalom.”
This simple celebration assures us;
this, this is our home.
And, yes, the world’s a good place.
We can be kind and moral.
As we celebrate together,
We know in here, this is normal.

Advocacy and Action

The Nature Conservancy is preparing for their actions during the UN international plastic pollution treaty negotiations later this year. They are bringing with them the names of people all over the globe who are demanding action to end plastic pollution. For many of us, especially those who don’t live near an ocean, we do not truly understand the scope of the problem. But plastic is a problem for us all. But the most affected people are those living in economically distressed areas of the world near our oceans. The most affected animals are ALL OF THEM. Please join your voice with others and add your name.

Democracy Watch and Resources

NETWORK Advocates for Catholic Social Justice has released a document comparing the Project 2025 plan to the Social Justice teachings of the Catholic Church. As you may know Project 2025 is a plan written by the Heritage Foundation as an intended blueprint for the next presidential administration. This plan has been called extreme by members of both political parties. I have included NETWORK’s document on the email attached to this update, and if you’d like to share with others, it can be found here.
