2025 Lenten Snapshot #1: Clean Water is Key to Life

Clean, running water is a luxury in many villages across the world. Waterborne diseases account for thousands of deaths each year.

Clean, running water is a luxury in many villages across the world. Waterborne diseases account for thousands of deaths each year.

During the 2025 Lenten season we hope you will take a moment to learn about how the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur are providing solutions to the water crisis in Africa where our Sisters live and work. The Sisters initiated the Photovoltaic program in 2003. Over the coming weeks, follow along as we highlight some of the villages benefiting from water filtration and solar energy systems.

Prayer from Sister Lois Ann Meyer, SNDdeN

Lord God, here I am on the doorstep of Lent. How many times have I been here before. My prayer today, is what I have sung many times,

We are the people your call set apart Lord, this time, this time change our hearts.

How many times have you told me, NOW! Now is the time. While yesterday brought me to today, and today will take me to tomorrow, it is NOW that is the important moment. Open my eyes to see those who need my love NOW. Open my ears to hear the quiet pleas of those needing a listening ear, a caring heart NOW. This time, today, the NOW moment change my heart to be the NOW person someone needs today to take the step on our faith journey together. Change our hearts! NOW! This time, help me live in the NOW moment and be your presence as I answer your call today. With your grace, I accept the challenge of NOW, in this moment, minute by minute, to change my heart! AMEN!
