Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur go where the need is greatest, and currently our Sisters live, teach and minister in areas of the world where electricity is scarce and clean drinking water is non-existent. People can survive without electricity, but life without clean water is impossible.
So, the Sisters brought solutions: photovoltaic system and borehole installations. In 2006, the first photovoltaic system was installed in Fugar on the property where new members of the Nigeria Province enter the Congregation. A borehole was installed at Fugar Postulate House in 2015. Together, this equipment extracts water and uses solar energy to power water purification processes.
This is not a “one and done” project. Over time, the components of the photovoltaic systems need to be upgraded. For example, the solar energy storage batteries have a 15-year lifespan, and many are due now for replacement.
This Lenten season, we hope you will take time to pray for those working to provide clean water solutions in rural villages.
With blessings for a meaningful Lent,

Prayer from Sister Agnes McBryan, SNDdeN
Heavenly Father, in You we live and move and have our being. I humbly pray that You guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit. That in all the cares and occupations of our life, we may not forget You, but remember that we are ever walking in your sight. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
