In honor of Sister Dorothy Stang's martyrdom 10th anniversary, Sister Joan Krimm, SNDdeN commissioned local musician Bobby Fisher to translate a powerful song originally written by JP Miranda that tells Sister Dorothy's story.
This beautiful collaboration grew as Bobby partnered with John Bolt and his wife to translate the lyrics into English. The recording process bridged distances—instrumental tracks with Portuguese vocals were created in John's Indianapolis home studio before being sent to Jaime Cortez, who added English vocals from his Phoenix, Arizona studio.
We're grateful to John Bolt and Bobby Fisher for producing this meaningful tribute. Enjoy this special video shared by Sister Angele Lewis, SNDdeN, celebrating a woman whose heart was truly "as wide as the world."

SISTER DOROTHY WILL NEVER DIE
Do you remember the day that it happened?
The news spread quickly all around the world.
As her body lay on the ground, deep within the Amazon her voice was silenced.
But we heard it round the world
She lived and died for the cause of justice for the poor and for the earth
She brought hope into the forest in the face of danger she relied on faith
She stood firm in her belief.
REFRAIN
Sister Dorothy you will live forever in the hearts and minds of all you knew.
Like a tree planted by the water your roots run deep, still bearing fruit.
Sister Dorothy you will live forever for you left a legacy of faith
We’ll carry on the work you started praying God will grant us grace.
I believe the earth must have cried out
As all of nature witnessed her fall
The sky began to cry to wash away the bloodstains from the place she lay.
From the place she died.
Once just a voice in the distant jungle
Now we all hear the message loud and clear
Each one of us is called to make a difference in this world
Even in the face of fear
REFRAIN
She lived and died for the cause of justice for the poor and for the earth
She brought hope into the forest
In the face of danger she relied on faith.
She stood firm in her belief.
REFRAIN
DOROTHY STANG YOU WILL NEVER DIE.
