As I child, I felt both anticipation and regret as a new school year began. I hated that summer was ending, but I looked forward to new school supplies, seeing my friends, and if I was honest, I looked forward to learning new things!
Now, I still look forward to learning new things and I hope you do too! We have so much to learn but we don’t really know what it is we’re missing!
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7
We live in challenging and often confusing times. The voices telling us how to think and how to live are loud, yet often wrong. Clarity can be found in the Word of God — In the promises we find there — In the knowledge of God that Jesus brought.
Jesus is the teacher we are looking for! Jesus is the revelation of God. Those who heard Him speak recognized that there was something different in Him. When He taught,
“… the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.” Matthew 7:28-29
No matter how educated or how smart we are, God has more for us. Jesus teaches us how to live and act in our world. He is the one who teaches us how to please God and find peace for ourselves.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27
He is waiting for us. This month let’s open our hearts and minds to all He has to teach us. Take time to quiet your minds and open your ears to hear God speaking to your heart.
“Be Still and know that I am God!” Psalm 46:11
Find time to sit quietly before the Lord. Pray, “Come Holy Spirit.”
“The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, that the Father will send in my name — he will teach you everything and remind you of all that I have told you.” John 14:26
So many hunger for the love and hope that Jesus brings. May God’s grace excite you, bless you, and enable you to bring the fruits of your learning to the people around you who need it the most.
Blessings,
